Recruiting Report: Christian Beachler (2018)
Six-foot-6 forward Christian Beachler of Canton High is a frontcourt prospect grabbing attention with the BBA Force this spring.
Beachler is listed as a small forward on his high school roster and he’s working to become a versatile player.
“I feel I’ve grown as more of a vocal leader on and off the court which has transitioned to football as well,” Beachler said.
Canton was 10-12 this season and Beachler spent a lot of time with his teammates working to improve for the future.
“This year I will always remember staying long after practice working whether that be getting more shots up, running more sprints, more ball handling drills, etc. with a few of the guys on my team. I will take away the feeling of satisfaction of seeing the results of hours and hours of hard work.”
Christian averaged 10.6 points, five boards, and two blocks a game this winter shooting 51 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the foul line. Christian is working to become a better player away from the basket.
“I’m spending time mostly working on my mid to three point range jump shot spot up as well as off the dribble. I also want to tighten up my handle as well stay in tuned with my post game.”
Christian is also playing with BBA Force who competed in five spring events and will be in the Prep Hoops Summer Finale in Oklahoma City in July.
“ This spring I’ve learned that no matter what there is always parts of your game you can work on,” Christian said. “I’ve been challenged skill wise as well as athletically challenged but you have to find what you excel at and use it to get an advantage on your opponent and help your team win.
“Competing against all the good competition is what makes me better and I always look forward to play against the great competition.”
Beachler is also an excellent football player at Canton High and he hopes to play one of the sports in college but as of now that’s not at the front of his mind. Improving is.
“I do plan to either play basketball or football but I don’t have any colleges specifically in mind yet,” Christian said. “I want to get better everyday. Keep on adding to my game. Keep taking steps forward to evolve my game.”
