Recruiting Report: Beau Bailey (2018)
Beau Bailey of Lakeville South/Powerhouse MN is a top-notch athlete whose athleticism was on display last weekend at the Northstar State Tournament. A slender 6-foot-3 wing, Bailey elevates very quickly and easily shows off his hops when able.
He’s a part of Powerhouse Hoops’ top team, our 6th-ranked squad in 17U with a 19-6 record.
“This AAU season is going well,” he told us. “We have a pretty good record and hoping to make that better in the tournaments to come. I like that my AAU team is like a family… we are like all brothers, we all are very close with each other and can take/ give criticism when it’s needed to make the team better. I like that we all play hard and will do anything we have to do to win games.”
Brett Carmichael, Powerhouse’s coach, was quick to mention Beau’s big-time potential.
“Beau is an extremely versatile player as he is capable of playing (the positions) 1-3 offensively, but can defend 1-4. He is finally starting to realize how good can be,” Carmichael said. “In my opinion he is a scholarship kid, but at what level? It depends solely on how quickly it all comes together. He is the most intriguing guy on our 17U roster because he is such an unknown, but also a wildcard.”
A few college programs have reached out to Bailey. There’s no doubt that eyes will be on him and the rest of Powerhouse when they play at Great Plains Alliance in St. Cloud later this month.
“I’ve recently talked to St. John’s, Augsburg, St. Cloud State,” Bailey said. “I’m looking for a college that really wants me and will make me a better player. Hopefully they can take me to the next level of basketball and will push me to be better. I also want them to make me a better man.”
Bailey has a 3.1 GPA and takes the ACT tomorrow.
I want to go to a four-year, but if I have to, I’ll go to a juco.”
