Recruiting Report: Aaron Henry (2018)
Aaron Henry – 6’5” | W/SF | Ben Davis High School
Aaron Henry is a rising D1 prospect out of the Indianapolis, IN area. As a junior with Ben Davis, he averaged 15.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game and lead them to a 25-4 record and a Class 4A State Championship. Henry was also selected as a First Team All-State player as a junior. He hasn’t looked back from there. He plays his summer ball with the Indiana Pros, Adidas program.
“Summer has gone extremely well for me so far and I need an even bigger July. I’ve been the glue guy for our team.” Henry plays alongside a lot of talent but has been doing just about everything for this team so far this spring.
“Whether it would be scoring or defense or rebounder. Just being whatever we need at the moment.”
Henry has shown that he can get to the rim with ease and finish with the best of them. His jump shot is something that he has been focusing on and it is showing rapid improvement. “Shooting. That’s that the college coaches want to see out of me and that will be on display in July.”
Aaron is on a visit at Northern Kentucky University today and will be visiting Bradley University in the coming week.
He currently holds offers from Ball State University, the University of Toledo, Indiana State University, the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, Northern Kentucky University, Evansville University, Ohio University, Oakland University, and the University of Miami (OH).
In the last week, Henry has been contacted by Michigan University, Butler University, Michigan State University, Indiana University, Northwestern University, Washing State University, and the University of Massachusetts.
Although he is still unsure of what he wants to pursue as a degree in college, he knows what he’s looking for in a school. “Best education! I’m not sure what I want to study yet but obviously a good coaching staff and a good basketball program.”
As the month of June winds down, Aaron has been taking advantage of the time in the gym and worked on his game. “We [Ben Davis] don’t play summer games, we just spend countless house in the gym every morning. Windham and I are the only returning varsity players. We have to lead and set the example to show the underclassmen the right way and how to win.”
Ben Davis is looking to build off their State Championship and great season last year. Henry will be an integral part in the future success of this program. His leadership and basketball abilities will be tested to the max this season. “I’m a winner and I’m going to compete with the best of them”.
As Aaron continues to expand his game on both ends of the floor, look for his impact to be felt in every aspect of the game next season. He is adding the ability to score from the outside at a higher rate, finishes very well at the rim with his elite athleticism, uses his quickness extremely well on defense, and rebounds the ball at an elite level from his position.
Henry will be a common name that we hear this season and into the future. He has all the pieces to be a high major basketball prospect and is putting in the work to make sure that he gets there. Keep tabs on him this season.
