Rafael Jenkins lands in Puerto Rico for 19U Training Camp!
So many times we hear the top athletes in the world say the following statement ‘‘ There is no better feeling than representing your country’’, we hear it from NBA players all the time when they compete in the Olympics, even players who have NBA championships make this statement. Well the time of the year has come for youngsters to try and earn their right to represent their nation as well as tryouts and training camps have begun for the youth level teams in numerous countries.
One player that has begun his journey to earn the right to represent his country is United Faith Guard Rafael Jenkins who just recently landed in Puerto Rico for the U19 National Training camp. We spoke briefly with Rafael via twitter before he landed and without a doubt this young man is clearly focused on taking full advantage of the opportunity that he’s been presented with. He seemed very excited to be able to take his talents internationally and compete, he also stated ‘‘my goal is to represent for my family, school, city and state.’’
There is no doubt in my mind that he will perform well at the Training Camp not only due to his talent level but because of the way he approaches the game every time he steps on the floor. He doesn’t back down from any challenge and understands how to use his speed along with his impressive ability to score to fill up a stat sheet quickly. Coaches love a player that can bring maximum effort on both ends of the floor and that’s what you will get from Rafael without a doubt. He plays the game with a chip on his shoulder and rightfully so, at this point in time he’s over looked by man , but don’t expect that too last much longer as we fully expect him to make major noise throughout the remainder of the summer.
