Prospect Spotlight: Motravion Dunston (2018)
Motravion Dunston | Weldon High School
Height: 6’6″ | Position: Forward| Class of 2018
Motravion Dunston, hailing from Weldon High School in Weldon, NC quietly put together an impressive junior season. He’s a lanky left-handed 6’6” wing that doesn’t mind mixing it up inside. When he has the ball in face-up situations, he uses his quick first step and craftiness to get around bigger defenders where he finishes well at the rim. Off the ball, he does a great job attacking the glass on missed shots. Must be boxed out at all times or he’ll come flying in giving his team another opportunity to score. Defensively, he uses his length well to bother scorers. Blocks shots in man to man defense and does a good job racking up weak-side blocks.
On the season, he averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Very versatile defender with a load of potential offensively at the next level. He will need to improve on his strength for the next level and needs repetition at the free throw line. Shot isn’t broken, so it’s more mental than his form. If you’re one of those colleges that love long 6’6” type players that can defend multiple positions, rebound, catch lobs and block shots, then Dunston is a kid you should have on your radar.
