Prospect Spotlight: Kristian Longenecker (2018)
Kristian Longenecker earned his first varsity experience last season after recovering from a back surgery over a year ago.
He says the 2016 season was a learning experience for him as he served in a key role off the bench for East Lake.
The 6’9″ forward has moved into a starting role this summer for East Lake and is looking forward to his second varsity season.
He’s running with the Warehouse Ballers this summer.
“This is my first summer training exclusively for basketball. Most of my time I will be with my trainer AJ Williams,” Longenecker told Prep Hoops Florida. “I’ll be back with Warehouse in July to finish off AAU season.”
No offers have come yet for him, but he’s drawn some Division III interest.
He says he plans to show everyone what he’s learned this past season and use that to improve his game as a senior.
In terms of Longenecker’s biggest strengths, he pointed to his size and ability to change the game on both ends of the floor. He’s aiming to improve his perimeter defense and overall versatility.
“I want to improve every aspect of my game because I believe there is no limit to the possibility of becoming the best player I can become,” he said.
Longenecker played football previously but says he stuck with basketball because he truly loves it.
“I’m very coordinated, athletic, strong and willing to do whatever it takes to play college basketball,” he said.
The road to recovery wasn’t easy for Longenecker but he’s been working hard to prove his worth. His length is undeniable. He has a nice set of offensive skills, including a baby hook and a drive to the basket. This summer is crucial as he aims to land that first college offer. Division II/Division III is a good fit for him.
