Prospect Spotlight: J.J. Reed (2018)
Prep Hoops Kentucky caught up with Paducah Tilghman forward Jerome J.J. Reed to recap his junior season with the Blue Tornado. Reed is going into his senior season.
As a junior, Reed helped lead Paducah Tilghman to a 20-11 overall record and a 2nd District championship. He averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists per game, while shooting 50.1% from the field. His success on the court (as a junior) earned him a spot on the All-Region team.
Reed is a slasher that can score on the perimeter and inside. “My best game is in transition,” said Reed. “I also rebound well and get my teammates involved.”
This summer you can find J.J. playing with Ramey-Jets out of Missouri. Ramey-Jets is currently 6-2 in Adidas Gauntlet play.
This summer Reed hopes to improve his jump shot and continue to build on his athleticism. “My goal next season is to win the regional championship and go on a run at state. Hopefully working on those aspects of my game will help my team accomplish those goals.”
Reed currently holds an offer from Samford University. He has interest from Liberty, Western Kentucky, Murray State, and Southeast Missouri. “I’m looking for an education that can prepare me for life after basketball and be able to find some success on the court with the college team I end up playing for.”
Look for Reed to build on his success thus far during the 2017 July AAU Live Period next month.
