Prospect Spotlight: Isaiah Moore (2018)
The DMV, and in particular, Prince Georges County, has been labeled as the “hotbed” of basketball by legendary Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Isaiah Moore, a class of 2018 guard at Flint Hill, and a native of Temple Hills, Maryland, might not be one of the most highly coveted local recruits, but he might have the biggest chip on his shoulder.
“I’m a player that feeds off my team’s energy. I score when we need a bucket, and get my teammates involved,” Moore explained. “I need to work on setting up for charges. Cause I’m small, I have to take charges. I gotta try. So that’s what I gotta do.”
Moore goes by the mantra started by reigning WCAC POY Chris Lykes: “Heart over Height.” He’s an extremely hard worker both on and off the floor. His 3.5 GPA at Flint Hill is evidence that he can handle his business in the classroom. Moore is one of the most crafty scorers we’ve seen in this area, but he knows that becoming a solid defender was imperative to his development.
“My defense is the most improved part of my game. Because when I was a freshman, I really had to work on my speed and lateral quickness. So that was my focus,” Moore stated. “I think my ability to score off the dribble is underrated.”
Right now, Moore is hearing from the likes of Winston Salem-State, and UMBC. What can he bring to a college program?
“Toughness. Heart. Cause I’m a small player.”
While he doesn’t pass the initial eye test, there are several things Moore does both on and off the court that simply can’t be ignored. There is no question that he is a big time player, and will make a significant impact for his team this season.
