NTBA Pre-Nationals Tourney: Standout Performers 2019 & 2020
Fayetteville Rockets 2019 Guard Ahmod Baker: Baker is a quick guard that can get where he wants without much difficulty, he’s a decent shooter from midrange as well as from deep. One of his most impressive attributes is his athletic ability, he made plays above the rim offensively and defensively, if he continues to develop he could turn into a nice prospect.
Fayetteville Rockets 2019 Guard Thomas Hendricks: Thomas had the crowd in the stands on their feet numerous times throughout the day, not only is he a gifted scorer but he has a wide variety of moves that kept the defense guessing. He may have had the play of the day, coming up with a steal and a bucket with less than 20 seconds left to give his squad the win.
Fayetteville Rockets 2019 Wing Steven Koumanen: As the day went on this young man continued to get better, he doesn’t say much verbally but his game speaks volumes. In the Championship game he came up huge for his squad bringing them back in the game, knocking down three trey balls in a row and five overall.
Anthony Akerson 2019 Guard Tyron Whitaker: Tyron was the leader for his squad throughout the day, he plays the game with a high amount of confidence and is a coach on the floor for his teammates. He doesn’t get rattled at all and seems to play better when the pressure builds, can score the ball very well.
UBE 2020 Guard Latrell Johnson: Latrell was a huge part of the success of his team, if the team can be viewed as a car then he is without a doubt the engine that makes it go. He got inside the paint at a high rate and got the opposition into foul trouble quickly, although he is smaller in height he has a strong frame and plays the game with a ton of heart.
