NHR State Tournament: Best Intangibles
These guys were scraping skin on the floor before it got too humid last weekend at Champlin Park. The best intangibles prospects are listed here from NHR State!
Mark Richelsen (F, 6-3, 2019, Fury Kaupa/Providence Academy) – Richelsen has stood out greatly this spring starting with our Stock Up Showcase. He’s an undersized 4 with broad shoulders and is always around the ball. I love seeing crazy loose ball sequences in Richelsen’s games because he somehow gets the basket every time. A do-everything player who will have another couple great seasons at Providence.
Elijah Barlue (PF, 6-4, 2019, Heat Bui/Osseo) – Barlue is described in one word: motor. He is a Tristan Thompson of sorts, flying and jumping on the glass for rebounds, plus getting quick hands in the way of passes for interior steals. He won’t rack up points but is a key athletic contributor for the Heat.
Gavin Bates (PG, 6-3, 2018, Comets Servaty/Sibley East) – I love this guy’s leadership. The Comets are abundant in length, so having a guard to orchestrate it all is very crucial. Bates is big and tough enough to post up and score along with great pull-up game. He’s a phenomenal communicator as the lead guard too.
Matt Onken (PF, 6-4, 2019, SW MN Stars/Marshall) – Onken might be Jake Dale 2.0. Undersized interior man who is most comfortable on the block. He’s vocal, strong and a great finisher through contact. I enjoyed his spearheading of the Stars’ team effort.
Quentin Hardrict (PG, 5-8, 2018, 43 Hoops/Columbia Heights) – The section 4AAA breakout star is carrying over his fast pace to a talented and uber-bouncy 43 Hoops squad. He’s reliable with the ball in his hands and can break down the perimeter to set up open guys in every spot. A fast, jittery pest on the defensive end who could please a lot of jucos.
