MU Team Camp Standouts: Part 1
SPG Supreme 2019 Guard Thomas Hendricks: Showed his outstanding ball handling skills throughout the day as well as his ability to knock down shots from mid and deep. No matter how hard opponents tried to speed him up, he played the game at the tempo that he want to play at and made the right plays to help lead his squad.
SPG Supreme 2019 Wing Teandre Walton: This young man excels on the football field but also does his thing on the basketball court and it showed on Friday afternoon. He can get inside the paint at will and has a nice smooth pullup game, his frame is one of the reasons he gets into the paint so easily, once you added his leaping ability and his toughness then you have a very impressive player.
Southern Lee 2019 Forward Nate Thompson: At 6’4 with a frame that looks like he could step on a college campus at any moment, he made his presence known for the minute the games started. He outmuscled and outworked opponents to grab a high amount of rebounds and displayed his high motor, providing extra possessions for his team.
Southern Lee 2019 Guard Phillip Martin: If you watched Southern Lee over the years then you know Phillip’s older brother Cam Martin who now is playing for NC Wesleyan. Phillip has a very nice game, he can score the ball in multiple ways from midrange and from deep, he also has nice speed and it showed once he was able to push the ball and get his team into transition for easy buckets.
Grays Creek 2019 Guard Trevor Thomas: We already knew about Trevor’s ability from his performance at the Fab 40 Camp, so it was no surprise that he played well throughout the day. He has a very quick first step and knows how to keep his defenders guessing with a large amount of moves in his arsenal.
Swansboro 2019 Guard Justin Smith: One of the smallest players at the Camp but you have to admire his heart, he truly embodies the term ‘‘Heart over Height’’. No matter what you have to love a player that brings everything he has.
