Memorial Day Takeover 2020 Scouting
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — We were in the gym all weekend checking out local teams at Memorial Day Takeover. It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is the final part of our report, featuring prospects from the class of 2020.
OBINNA ANOCHILI | TEAM MELO
6’9 big man Obinna Anochili is going to be a name to remember in the class of 2020. Not only does he display big time athleticism and mobility, Anochili can also shoot it well from the perimeter. He possesses a unique blend of skill to go along with intriguing physical attributes.
JOSIAH FREEMAN | TEAM TAKEOVER
We saw Josiah Freeman operate both on and off the ball for Team Takeover this weekend, and were impressed with his production in both spots. Freeman has a strong frame at 6’4, and knows how to get in the lane and finish through contact. He is also a knock down 3 point shooter from the catch.
ISHMAEL LEGGETT | TEAM TAKEOVER
Ismhael Leggett is uncommonly strong for his age. It seems like whenever he gets into the lane and draws contact that he converts plus the foul. The long limbed 6’2 guard defends very well both on and off the ball, and plays with a consistently high motor.
JEREMY ROACH | TEAM TAKEOVER
Jeremy Roach was the catalyst behind Team Takeover’s run to the championship this weekend. Roach was asked to score a lot this weekend, and did so from all over the floor with no issues. One game, he hit 5 of 6 from downtown on his way to 27 points, but also dished out a handful of assists. Roach once again proved why he is one of the best guards nationally in his class, and earned a well deserved invitation to USA Basketball Trials in Colorado this week.
EARL TIMBERLAKE | TEAM TAKEOVER
Earl Timberlake played all over the floor defensively for Team Takeover, and showcased solid playmaking ability with the ball. The athletic 6’5 freshman used his 6’11 wingspan to create turnovers, and made several unselfish plays with the ball.
TERRANCE WILLIAMS | TEAM TAKEOVER
One word to describe Terrance Williams? Productive. If he’s not in the paint grabbing a rebound, the 6’7 forward is lighting it up from the perimeter or converting in traffic at the rim. Williams is also very unselfish, and enjoys getting others involved.
