Memorial Day Takeover 2019 Scouting Part 1
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — We were in the gym all weekend checking out local teams at Memorial Day Takeover. It is time for our detailed scouting report on the event. Here is part one of our 2019 scouting report!
RJ BLAKNEY | TEAM MELO
RJ Blakney put on a clinic during Team Melo’s win in their night cap on day 1. The much improved, athletic, highly versatile 6’5 playmaker is extremely unselfish, but also knows when his team needs him to be aggressive.
JASON GIBSON | 6TH MAN WARRIORS
Team Melo lost to 6th Man Warriors in their first game on day 1, and Jason Gibson was a huge reason why. Gibson hit just two threes, but still put up an easy 30 points by utilizing his craftiness and skill off the bounce.
EJ JARVIS | TEAM TAKEOVER
EJ Jarvis did a nice job protecting the ball under pressure. The 6’9 lefty has a smooth touch from the perimeter, but also displays solid fundamentals down low. Jarvis is very intelligent with his movement off the ball, and is always available for dump offs. He’s also very unselfish, and will not hesitate to deliver an accurate pass to an open teammate.
XAVIER JOYNER JR. | TEAM TAKEOVER
Xavier Joyner Jr. played with a consistently high motor at all times, and did a nice job filling the lanes in transition. Joyner finished well in the paint, and did a nice job getting others involved.
DONNELL LOUD | TEAM MELO
We really liked how Donnell Loud ran the floor hard, and went strong to the rim. The 6’9 power forward has good hands, and knows what to do with the ball once he gets it.
JOHN MARSHALL | COLUMBIA RAVENS
John Marshall scored a team high 13 points in a hard fought loss against Team Takeover. Marshall was very crafty off the bounce, and did a nice job creating contact. The 6’2 guard defended with tenacity, and rebounded well from his position.
