Meet Rondel Walker
The national scene does not know Rondel Walker yet, but that is all about to change. The 2020 talented Putnam City West and Team Griffin Guard recently picked up his first offer from Oklahoma Baptist this past weekend. An even bigger one followed with Oklahoma State pulling the trigger.
Walker had a phenomenal spring on the Nike Circuit with Team Griffin. He improved his stock immensely with great performances against some of the top talent in the country. What makes Walker good is his ability to take over games. He has the killer instinct college coaches are looking for along with a great skill set. With the ball in his hands Walker can create and score from all three levels.
He isn’t a high riser. Walker gets the job done with fundamentals, vision and toughness. The offer Walker picked up from Oklahoma State was huge. Anytime a young player gets a Division I offer it is big, but being from a school in the BIG12 it adds to it.
“It feels great to get my first Division I scholarship,” said Walker. “Especially coming from a school I am close to and have been following over the past four years as my sister attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University.”
Walker has seen the campus several times with his sister having went there. When talking about Oklahoma State Walker spoke about the Pokes as if it were home.
“I think very highly of Oklahoma State,” said Walker. “I always feel very welcomed on campus.”
The offer is the start of what will likely be a long recruiting process for Walker over the reminder of his three years of high school. The goals for Walker exceed going to just college.
“I plan on going to college and someday going to the NBA,” said Walker.
One thing is for certain, Walker is starting to garner attention in the Oklahoma 2020 Class. Keep an eye on him and his development.
