IPFW Shootout – 2018 Standouts
IPFW Shootout – Day #1 Standouts
Class of 2018
Braxton Meek – 6’0” | SG | Angola High School
Braxton Meek looked good from deep last week at the IPFW Shootout. His jump shot has always been his strong suit but he is getting it off quicker and looks more confident shooting it from deep. He was able to defend better than he had but still needs to work on his game going to the basket but will be a floor stretcher for the Hornet this season.
Jaylen Minor – 6’3” | SG | Evansville Bosse High School
Minor’s length really bothered opposing guards. He ripped a couple of defenders and consistently got deflections on the defensive end of the floor. His jump shot looked smooth and the lefty has been working on going to the basket with his off hand. He finished in the lane at a high rate and was an impact guy on both backboards.
Anthony Barnard – 6’5” | G/F | Kokomo High School
Barnard is coming off a strong finish to his junior season and a strong spring session with G3 Grind on the UAA Circuit. Anthony looked good with his back to the basket and shooting off the bounce. His catch and shoot jumper was quick and smooth. Barnard’s ball handling is better as well. Look for Barnard to have a stellar senior season.

Trajan Deckard – 5’10” | PG | Kokomo High School
Deckard was able to get to his spots on offense with regularity and quickness. His decision making looked better at the shootout and he was more of a distributing point guard than he has been in the past. Trajan’s effort level on the defensive end set the tone for the team. He pushed the ball in transition and created opportunities for his teammates.
Dominic Nix – 6’3” | SF | Kokomo High School
Nix was much more aggressive on both ends of the floor at the shootout than he was last season. He looked more consistently for opportunities to score and his confidence in his scoring ability has gone up. Nix has transitioned from a rebounding, screening big man, to an aggressive and versatile wing that will add an element to this team.
Donnie Shelton – 5’10” | G | Centerville High School (OH)
Donnie Shelton was one of the more intriguing prospects in this class. He put together complete game after complete game. It was a scoring clinic on the offensive end and lock-down defense on the defensive end of the floor. Elite ball handling and court vision created driving lanes and wide-open shots that he knocked down with confidence and ease.
John Henry Reith – 6’4” | PF | Bishop Dwenger High School
John Henry put on a rebounding and finishing show at the shootout. He has some of the best hands for his position and is an enforcer on the boards. Reith showed that he can step away from the basket and knock down the fifteen-foot jumper with regularity as well as his soft touch around the basket with both hands even through contact.
Lucas Lehrman – 6’7” | PF | Bishop Dwenger High School
Lucas Lehrman is one of the quickest improving prospects in this class. His size and length are utilized with his athleticism. He had a couple of put-back dunks and also stepped behind the line and looked comfortable knocking down the deep ball. Lehrman is one to keep an eye on as he is starting to grow in popularity on the recruiting scene.

Brandan Johnson – 6’1” | G | North Side High School
Brandan Johnson has been stepping into his role as a secondary ball handler and attack man off the dribble. Johnson has been working well with ball screens and movement created off the ball. His court vision and awareness has become his strongest suit on the offensive side of the floor. Crucial asset for the Legends this season.

Austin Boucher – 6’0” | G | North Side High School
Boucher is transitioning back into SAC basketball after spending the year in Maryland. He looked good shooting the ball from deep but it seems to be coming off quicker which is good for him. Austin worked as the primary ball handler for the Legends at IPFW and is working as more of a creator for the team. Prospect to keep on the radar.

Christian Harvey – 5’10” | G | Richmond High School
Christian Harvey might have been the best offensive player that was at the shootout on Thursday. He got to all of the spots on the floor that he wanted too and shot the ball at a great percentage. His jump shot from deep seems to be a more integral part of his offensive game this season and will make him a much harder guard than in the past.

Will Line – 6’0” | G | Goshen High School
Will Line was showing his new quickness and foot speed both with and without the ball at IPFW. The lefty guard got into the lane quicker than he has in the past and has added some new finishing techniques to his game. He is more explosive than he was a year ago and is working on using his off-hand more on his dribble moves.
Thabit Gault – 6’6” | F/C | Mississinewa High School
Thabit was a rebounding machine for Mississinewa at the shootout. Gault’s rebounding range seemed endless on both ends of the floor. His game with his back to the basket was his strong suit and with his frame, he got to his spots and finish at the rim. He created space and driving lanes with his screens and rolled to the basket with hands high.
