IAABO Team Camp Recap (Class of 2020 Standouts)
Here is a look at the top Class of 2020 standouts from this week’s IAABO Team Camp at Francis Howell Central High in St. Charles, MO.
Matt Schark 6’3″ Francis Howell: An impressive young combo forward who was a tough matchup problem for opposing defenders. He has a strong body and he uses it quite well in the low post with a variety of moves and a nice shooting touch. He is also an excellent 3-point shooter who is ideal on the pick and pop. He is physically strong and he is always in the right position on the floor.
Adam Sommer 6’3″ Parkway South: A solidly built perimeter player who did a good job playing either guard position. He has the ability to score in a variety of ways as he can drive the ball and draw fouls and finish in the lane or knock down open 3-pointers. He is also quite capable of taking the point guard duties and initiating offense.
J.J. Schwepker 6’4″ Fort Zumwalt South: The talented Stretch 4 was making his first appearance on the court after missing about a month with an injury. He looked pretty good out there as he displayed his ability to knock down 3-pointers and stretch the defense. He also moves well without the basketball, which is somewhat of a lost art.
Gary Clark 6’3″ Cardinal Ritter: A young post player who I got a chance to watch for the first time and was very impressed. He is very thin, but he knows how maneuver his way around the basket with his quick feet and good athleticism. He also displayed a fine shooting touch in the paint. His dad is about 6’7, so this kid has a chance to be very good when he fills out physically.
Xavier Drummond 6’3″ Parkway North: A young player who plays the game with a high motor and tons of activity. His size and athleticism enables him to go out and guard multiple positions and he puts in a strong effort on the defensive end. His offensive game is a work in progress, but he can slash to the basket and crash the offensive boards.
