Class of 2019 PG Stock Risers
Today we are going to look into what point guards in the 2019 class helped their stock the most in the latest PrepHoopsIllinois rankings!
Dashon Enoch (OPRF)
Previous Rank: #24
Current Rank: #15
Enoch is a big and physical combo guard that plays downhill. He attacks the cup with the best of them. He scores at the rim through contact. The reason his stock has gone up however is because to the improved consistency on his jump shot and ability to work in the pick and roll.
Chris Roberts (Lincoln Park)
Previous Rank: NR
Current Rank: #23
Roberts broke out this spring at the Battle at the Lakes and followed it up two weeks later in St. Louis at the Show Me Showdown with monster performances. Roberts is a fast tempo guard that gets to the rim with ease. Relentless attacking his man off the bounce over and over again.
Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook)
Previous Rank: #54
Current Rank: #24
Cochran has always played a complimentary role on his high school team to other guards like Thornton and Yesufu. This spring he showed he could be more of a featured player running with Hoopers Basketball Club. He is a big point guard that has size and the ability to shoot it. Also showed a knack for making acrobatic shots at the rim.
Artese Stapleton (Kenwood)
Previous Rank: NR
Current Rank: #33
Stapleton played well off his running mate mentioned above Roberts throughout the spring for Young & Reckless. He is a slick handling point guard that pushes it in the open floor. More of a distributor that has vision and feel for finding teammates and putting them in positions to succeed.
Bryce Bultman (Nashville)
Previous Rank: NR
Current Rank: #41
Bultman burst onto the scene this spring playing with the Illinois Bears. Big 6’4” guard that has plus size for the position. Has elite vision and passing ability for a 2019 prospect. Makes it look effortless passing the ball. Also can score with a jumper and post up smaller guards.
Isiah Burd (Bolingrbook)
Previous Rank: NR
Current Rank: #50
Burd put himself on our radar at the PrepHoops spring showcase event. With so many guards at Bolingbrook he didn’t see any time on varsity. Expect that to change this season. The top 50 prospect is uber smooth with the rock in his hands getting where he wants on the floor and can score with ease. Mid-range jumper.
Malik Tidwell (Marian Catholic)
Previous Rank: NR
Current Rank: #86
Tidwell is a small and compact power guard that came on strong for Marian Catholic at the end of the high school season. Was one of the most productive players for the Spartans late in the year. This spring he ran with Meanstreets 16U where he showed skills spotting up from the perimeter. Tough kid.
Christian Davis (St. Ignatius)
Previous Rank: NR
Current Rank: #88
Davis is an athletic lead guard that can handle it and plays with a high basketball IQ. Feel for the game and lets things come to him. Potential to break out this upcoming season and see his stock go up even more.
William King (Glenbrook South)
Previous Rank: NR
Current Rank: #97
King impressed us late in the spring with All-In. The Glenbrook South point guard is a crafty 2019 that plays with pace and makes sound decisions with the ball in his hands. Classic throwback lead guard that loves to dish the rock!
