CFCA Team Camp: What Did we learn?
Team camp is always an interesting time of year, you get to see standout prospects with their high school teams and matchups that you won’t see during the high school season. Recently we got a chance to stop in and see some talent at the Cape Fear Christian Team Camp and it was very impressive, despite seeing some outstanding individual talent we saw some intriguing teams as well.
The NCISAA 1A division will be strong once again: Cape Fear Christian and Northwood Temple both showed up and played well, although Northwood was missing some of their players you can still see the young talent from Jamel Carter, Miles Ray & Travon Jackson. For Cape Fear they bring out back the same squad with a few key additions but will led by Guard Isaiah Tatum who showed his talent without a doubt.
New Life Christin will be a team that pulls off some upsets this season: New Life Christian is a school and a program that is slowly but surely getting their respect, the additions of Reggie Raynor & Reggie Walton were a good start for the Monarchs this offseason. The team is small in size but they play with a lot of heart and intensity, Coach Aaron Parker definitely has a team with some old school toughness to them.
The Class of 2019 is a versatile class: We all know about the top players in the 2019 Class but there is nice amount of talent in the class from top to bottom and it was on display throughout the team camp, college coaches will be very pleased with the amount of talent to recruit.
Phoebus HS 2018 Wing Khyree Temple is a special player: Prior to the Team Camp I had heard some good things about this young man and how talented of a player he is, and I was not disappointed one bit. He can score the ball at a high rate and got to the basket whenever he wanted, he also is a tremendous passer which was on full display. Norfolk State and James Madison University have already offered and we won’t be surprised to see more schools join in.
