CB Lincoln Team Camp: Standouts Part I
2018 Troy Houghton, 6’3 SF (CB Lincoln)
Great length and athleticism are at the foundation of this wing’s success. the slasher won’t kill you with his jumper, but it’s becoming more and more formidable, and his ability to control the glass while being menacing on defense make him a game-changer for the Lynx.
2018 Nate Mohr, 6’2 G (Glenwood)
He was firing from anywhere and everywhere, off the bounce too. Mohr is as confident of a shooter as there is in Iowa, and his range is seemingly unlimited. His handles are a plus, but his shooting is his best strength. He could nab some D2 offers before too long, we think.
2019 Christian Stanislav, 6’3 SG (Glenwood)
One of the more under-recruited guys in 2019, Stanislav recently revealed to us that his recruitment has yet to begin. That should change soon, as the sharpshooter is certainly one of the class’s best prospects. His ability to elevate and hit a mid-range is his strength, but he rebounds exceptionally well from the guard spot with his height plus length combo.
2019 Conner Groves, 5’11 SG (Sergeant Bluff-Luton)
He deserves to be in the conversation for Iowa’s elite shooters, and after nonchalantly canning seven 3s against in a win over AHST that became devastatingly clear. He’s not just a one trick pony though, Groves was handling the ball well and finding teammates for open looks to boot.
2018 RJ Harris, 6’2 G (AHST)
This athletic and thick wing is going to do a lot of damage next season in 2A. He’s a guard by skill-set, but is big enough to manage his way in the post. He’ll knock-down a bunch of 3s, and could snare close to 10 rebounds per game next season. Division III coaches may want to take notice.
2018 Jeremiah Bor Khat, 6’4 G/F (Sergeant Bluff-Luton)
Formerly of Siouxland Christian, it appears that Bor Khat will be a Warrior next season. And what a pickup for Sergeant Bluff-Luton. Bor Khat has grown six inches in the past year-and-a-half and is now a towering 6-foot-4 wing. He’s able to get his shot off at will, and it continues to drop with more regularity each time we see him.
2018 Noah Samples, 6’2 G/F (Valley)
We dubbed him the Andre Iguodala of Iowa high school hoops, and nothing could be closer to the truth. Samples is a glue guy for Valley; a lengthy, defensively disruptive veteran. He’ll guard multiple positions for the Tigers this winter, and will get some hustle buckets while doing so.
2018 Blake Brinkmeyer, 6’8 PF (Valley)
With each viewing we come away more and more impressed. He’s already the third-ranked player in the 2018 class, so there’s not much more up to go. And with Joe Wieskamp and AJ Green ahead of him, don’t count on him to rise any more. But his aggressive one-hand slam through traffic today, and his array of swats defensibly were glimpses into why Northern Iowa extended an offer to Brinkmeyer before he even played a varsity game.
