BSN Summer League Week 1 Recruiting Roundup
HYATTSVILLE, MD — Several local teams have been showcased at the BSN Summer League, and we’ve been in the gym taking in the first week of action. Below is a rundown of the latest recruiting updates.
- Bishop O’Connell ’18 SG Matt Becht is receiving recent interest from Mount St. Mary’s since his 27 point explosion vs. Bullis. The sharpshooting 6’3 guard will play a prominent role alongside Xavier Johnson in the back court this season.
- W.T. Woodson ’18 SG Matt Urbach will visit Mount St. Mary’s on June 17. He will also visit Delaware, but the date is to be determined. Urbach earned his first offer from La Salle in the spring.
- Bullis ’19 wing Phillip Smith will visit Holy Cross on June 30. Smith, who is also receiving interest from George Mason, is currently nursing a minor ankle injury, and has not played yet in summer league.
- ’18 Mezie Offurum will visit Rhode Island this month. Expect more programs to get involved with the highly talented wing from Georgetown Prep.
- ’18 Eleanor Roosevelt PG Jaden Faulkner is receiving recent interest from Towson. The long 6’4 playmaker is still improving, and could be a late bloomer.
- ’19 Mekhi Long of St. Mary’s Ryken received a recent offer from Virginia Tech. The Hokies have joined Old Dominion, and Rhode Island, who offered in the spring.
- ’18 Christian Jones of Annapolis is receiving recent interest from Wofford, Campbell, Wagner, UMass, and St. Bonaventure to name a few.
- ’19 Bishop McNamara PG Johnathan McGriff has earned a recent offer from Rutgers. The dynamic playmaker has been rock solid this spring with Team St8ment.
- ’18 Matt Balanc of Springbrook is receiving recent interest from Lafayette, and VCU.
- ’20 Anthony Thomas of Springbrook has received recent offers from Springbrook and Rutgers.
- ’19 Gonzaga College High guard Josh Watts landed his first offer from Columbia recently, but also draws interest from a host of other schools. Princeton, VCU, New Hampshire, Brown, Lafayette, Cornell, UCF, Stanford, and Loyola are among those interested.
- ’18 Saddiq Bey of Sidwell Friends took recent visits to Miami and Georgetown. LSU and Missouri are among the schools who’ve reached out in recent weeks. Check out this recent video interview with Bey.
