Brendan Adams talks college list, summer improvements, senior season at Calvert Hall
Calvert Hall has a roster filled with talent ranging from freshmen to seniors. When it comes to looking for the leader and go-to guy, look no further than Brendan Adams. Adams is a rising senior and has seen his stock rise significantly over the past year. He was recently ranked No. 16 in the PrepHoops Maryland player rankings. Adams has 11 offers in total at this moment in time.
I caught up with the 6’4 shooting guard after a summer league game at St. Paul’s and hit on a variety of subjects.
PrepHoops: What schools have you visited thus far?
Adams: I haven’t taken any visits this past season, but before that I’ve been to St. Joe’s, George Washington, Towson, and Temple. I was supposed to take one to Stanford, but we had to reschedule it. I’ll be taking an official visit there sometime in the next two months.
PrepHoops: If you had to, what would your top five schools be right now? (In no particular order)
Adams: My top five right now would probably be Stanford, Minnesota, Rhode Island, St. Joe’s, and probably Wyoming. I’m still open with my recruitment though, if any new schools were to show interest.
PrepHoops: Do you have a certain date in your mind as to when you would like to commit?
Adams: I want to take all of my visits, so I’m just taking my time. I’ll probably make a decision not before the school year, but most likely before the season.
PrepHoops: You’ve had a busy summer with Team Melo and summer league. You guys qualified for Peach Jam in July. How has the offseason overall been treating you?
Adams: The summer has been good. Just so far been preparing for Peach Jam. That’s why I haven’t gone on a lot of visits this summer. I’ve had the opportunity to work out 2-to-3 times a day. My summer has just been about getting better so far.
PrepHoops: You guys dealt with a lot of injuries to different players at different times last season [for Calvert Hall]. What’s your mindset for your senior season in a very tough MIAA A Conference?
Adams: We’re trying to bounce back. Last year we had a really bad season even though we set lofty goals for ourselves. This season we want to win both championships (MIAA, BCL) and go to Alhambra.
PrepHoops: Have you set any individual goals for yourself?
Adams: Of course I’m going for MIAA and BCL Player of the Year. Last year I felt I should’ve made first-team all conference. I made second team and that’s alright, but I know if we win like we’re supposed to, I’ll be in the conversation for player of the year.
