Arizona 2019 Rankings Update: Point Guards
The class of 2019 is shaping up nicely with a number of prospects solidifying their spots while others have demonstrated that they should receive more recognition. Here are the most up to date Arizona 2019 Rankings.
2019 Rankings Point Guards
Some of our other rankings have been highlighted by big men. However, the class of 2019 is loaded with skilled guards.
#1 Josh Green 6’6 PG/SG Hillcrest Prep (Earl Watson Elite)
Green is the top ranked player in this class and the top rated guard. Originally starting his career at Mountain Ridge, Green has moved to Hillcrest Prep and had a tremendous year. Green has been an absolute monster on the Under Armour circuit as he has demonstrated to the rest of the state and nation that he is one of the top players in the entire country. Part of what makes Green so special is the size he possesses along with his guard skills. He is an explosive athlete as well. Green is a high NCAA Division I prospect.
#3 Jaelen House 6’1 PG Shadow Mountain (Team Harden)
House has been one of the most fun prospects in the state to watch. He has improved tremendously from his freshman to sophomore year and looks to be improving rapidly as he and Jovan Blacksher look to lead one of the top teams in the nation in Shadow Mountain. House is special – he has a knack for making game changing plays and is not afraid of the moment. Bottom line, any next level suitor who wants to recruit a kid with winning in his DNA, look no further – he refuses to lose.
#4 D’Maurian Williams 6’4 PG Westview (Factory)
Williams future looked extremely bright as a freshman. He has lived up to the mold and then some. He is a physical guard with broad shoulders and good length. Willims has improved his consistency on the ball defensively and shooting it from deep. He has a sneaky explosive first step and when he gets to the defenders hip, it is over. He is strong and does not get bumped off of his spot. In addition, he finishes extremely well around the rim.
#5 Jovan Blacksher 6’1 PG Shadow Mountain (Compton Magic)
Blacksher is the best on ball defender in this group. He is strong, has elite level athleticism, and moves well laterally. He has a bulldog mentality and carries the same winning mindset as House. In addition, Blacksher has a good basketball IQ and creates well for himself and his teammates. Blacksher also shoots the basketball well from deep.
#10 Trent Brown 5’11 PG Pinnacle (AZ Power)
Brown has seen his stock improve more than anyone in this group. Although he was already well known for his shooting abilities, Brown has demonstrated that he can do more than shoot the basketball at a high level. Brown is an elite level shooter, moves well defensively, and has a good feel for the game. Moreover, he does not do more than he is capable of as he understands his game well. As Brown continues to improve, it looks more and more imminent that Pinnacle will be the team to beat for the 6A state title.
