2019 Big Men
PrepHoopsNC takes a look at some of the top big men in the class of 2019. Here are some of the players that stand out and can come in immediately and help a college program.
Deaundre Wilkins 6’10 C Wesleyan Christian-Raw player with nice potential, he’s also a very gifted football player which always help when toughness is needed for bigs to bang inside the paint. He has decent hands and nice timing on blocking shots defensively, he doesn’t leave his feet too early which allows him to stay out of foul trouble.
Emmanuel Izundor 6’9 F Fayetteville Academy/Fayetteville Elite-Offensively he is very comfortable with his back to the basket and finishes plays with dunks off the drop step or a smooth baby hook shot that he has perfected. On the defensive end he protects the paint very well, he blocks and alters shot at a high rate and does a solid job of staying out of foul trouble by not leaving his feet early.
William Onyeodi 6’10 F Fayetteville Academy-An up and coming prospect in the state, William is a strong player who is still raw but has a nice skillset. He brings alot of energy and intensity to the floor, he has nice atheltic ability and a gift for rebounding the ball.
Kadin Shedrick 6’8 F Holly Springs-Although he has a slender frame, he is comfortable with his back to the basket as well as facing up . Still somewhat raw but have very nice potential, once he adds some more upper body muscle to his frame his recruitment will rise without a doubt.
Jaelyn Withers 6’8 F North Mecklenburg/Team Loaded-Player that has seen a huge jump in his recruitment over the last few months, he’s a versatile player that can play inside as well as step outside and score it. Numerous times throughout the season and summer we saw him put togeher some double/doubles in points and rebounds.
BJ Mack 6’8 F Oak Hill Academy/Team CP3-Big bodied but skilled player that has a very nice touch in the post, he has some solid post moves and can step out and shoot the midrange jump-shot knocking it down with consistency. Is a very high volume rebounder on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Has committed to Virginia Tech.
Michael Fowler 6’8 F Greensboro Day-Recently received his first D1 offer from Hampton University, still a raw player but as has nice height and potential. Playing under outstanding coaching during the high school and summer time season he will continue to improve and has a chance to be special.
