Basketball Interview with…Josh Sanders (2018)
Josh Sanders is a 6’3 combo guard that was the second leading scorer for the Davis Darts last season. I expect him to have a breakout senior season next year. I see him as a very solid D2 prospect that could also go the junior college route to improve his stock if he decides too.
What are some strengths you have in your game that make you the player that you are?
“I think that I can score in a variety ways, including getting to the rim and shooting the three. I’m a solid defender on the perimeter and can turn some heads with my athleticism.”
What are some of your weaknesses that you would like to work on?
“I need to work on expanding my range even deeper than the 3 point line and also getting bigger and stronger.”
Do you think your team will be able to compete for a 6A state championship next year?
“We should be in the conversation to take it all next year. Our team is very experienced and has a lot of talented players. I expect big things from our guys.”
Tell me what your goals are as a basketball player. Why should a college coach offer you a scholarship? What separates you from other guards?
“I want to win a lot of games and have a good year this next high school season. One of my biggest goals is contributing at a division 1 basketball program. I think that I have the skill set and size/athleticism to do that at the next level. The thing that sets me apart from other guards is my work ethic because I always want to be the hardest worker. I am constantly working on my game to get better.”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in Utah High School basketball?
“My sophomore year I had the assignment of guarding Julian Blackmon, which was really tough.”
What is your dream college that you would want to play for and why?
“I would really love to play for BYU because of the tradition of success and their great coaching staff. Although, I would love to go anywhere that is the right fit for me on and off the court.”
Wh0 is your favorite NBA player and why?
“James Harden is definitely my favorite NBA player. He can see the floor so well and plays the game so smoothly that it’s beautiful to watch.”
What is your favorite off the court activity and why?
“My favorite off the court activity would be spending time outdoors with my family. I really enjoy going fishing and hunting with my dad.”
What are your plans for after high school?
“After high school, I plan on serving an LDS mission. Following that, I plan on going to college and continuing my basketball career.”
What would you like to major in during college?
“I am very interested in Sports Medicine, but at the moment I am undecided.”
