Takeaways from “The Rumble”
Kingdom Sports in Franklin, Ohio hosted “The Rumble” basketball tournament this past weekend. Several local teams participated with one of them competing for a tournament title. Two teams impressed me during my visit.
Dayton Metro– Metro went 0-2 in pool play and received the 6 seed out of 7. They first upset a 2-seeded Air Kev team in their first game and then faced another Air Kev team in the semifinals. Metro trailed 61-50 with about 2:30 to play and came back to pull another upset 66-63. In the final they faced the top seed The Program Elite out of Canada. There, they fell short 57-50, however making a run to the final as a 6 seed is definitely impressive. Aguard oriented team, they play high octane defense and look to attack in the fast break. They are a team to watch going forward.
The Program Elite– The Program visited Kingdom from all the way up North. They went 2-0 in pool play and received the number 1 seed. After a first round bye, they slipped by Trifecta Elite in the semifinals to set up a match-up with cinderella team Dayton Metro where they won 57-50. The Program has multiple athletes on their team and played with great passion and skill.
Kingdom hosts 3 more tournaments this month with spots still open. Check this venue out for some of Dayton’s top local AAU teams can be seen here in the coming weeks.
