Stock Risers: 2019 Guard Prospects
The spring session of the AAU circuit is just about over and we are taking a long look at some of the top players we saw this spring. With this, we want to take a look at some of the biggest risers in the class from the last few months. Here are the top 2019 prospects that have improved their stock.
Spencer Piercefield – 6’0 | PG | Center Grove (IN) | IE Metro 2019 – One of the biggest jumps since this time last year is Piercefield. He’s really taken off. He’s grown a bit, added strength, and his shot is lights out right now. He is mixing in offense and passing ability really well, not ever taking over the game too much. That balance while still being a big time producer makes him extremely valuable.
Tyreese Nibbs – 6’3 | PG | Ben Davis (IN) | Indiana Faith 2019 – Nibbs is a guy I’ve like for over a year now and he has improved his body to the point where he’s now even better. Great size and clearly a point guard with solid slashing ability. Needs a bit more offense but really he’s such an unknown right now. Love his upside if he can add offense.
Cameron Alford – 6’0 | PG | Brownsburg (IN) | Team Teague 2019 – Alford has been consistent. He is a guy we weren’t sure how quick he would be as a driving guard but he keeps doing it against better and better talent. If the driving ability isn’t as big of an issue as originally thought, then his stock should be higher. Can definitely score the ball well.
Alex Hemenway – 6’3 | SG | Castle (IN) | Indiana Elite 2019 – Hemenway is a guy that we wanted to see go against a higher level of competition. Since moving to Indiana Elite, all he has done is the same thing he always has. His size and ball handling are really solid and his confidence is high. If the better athletes and length don’t bother him that much, then that changes things.
Luke Bumbalough – 6’0 | PG | 2019 | New Castle (IN) | G3 Grind 2019 – Bumbalough has really improved since the last time we have seen him. Has grown and is a legit point guard but is much more offensive minded than we thought he would be. Luke has really shot the ball well for stretches. Can overplay a bit now but he’s in a much better spot than he was a year ago.
