Southern Jam Fest 2018 Stock Boosters Part 2
HAMPTON, VA — Southern Jam Fest is in the books, and many players made strong statements in an event packed with top notch talent. Below we highlight a few players who boosted their stock with a consistently strong run of play over the weekend.
CHRISTIAN JONES | TEAM BBC
Christian Jones has been a steady contributor in a talented back court for Team BBC. The sturdily built 6’2 guard out of Annapolis is versatile in the back court, and can play both on or off the ball. Jones is a catch and shoot ace, but also excels in a playmaking role. He’s a strong rebounder, an active defender, and a creative finisher.
JOSH MACK | ERICK GREEN PREMIERE
Erick Green Premiere nearly knocked off Boo Williams in the Elite 8, and Josh Mack was a big reason why. The lockdown defender took a charge late in the game after a crafty finish in the lane. Mack displayed positive energy, and commendable leadership intangibles on the floor.
MAC MCCLUNG | TEAM LOADED VA
You always know what to expect from Mac McClung each time he steps on the floor. McClung is the type of guard who puts his hard hat on and comes to play each and every single game, and isn’t afraid of anyone. This in game windmill that McClung threw down over the weekend went viral, but it’s only a small snapshot of the type of player he is.
JORDAN MILLER | D1SA SPARTANS
One player who definitely boosted his stock by all accounts was Loudoun Valley wing Jordan Miller. The long limbed 6’4 lefty is a knock down shooter from the perimeter off the catch, and is a very good passer. Miller led D1 to some really good wins, and scored 20 plus in each game, including 25 vs. Boo Williams.
KRIS MONROE | TEAM WALL
Not many players can match the unique blend of size and skill that Kris Monroe has. The 6’7 point forward is smooth with the ball, and moves well without it. Monroe can stretch the floor from the perimeter, and create for himself or others. His stock has significantly risen this spring, and should only continue that trend over the summer.
ZACH PFAFFENBERGER | TEAM BBC
As his fitness continues to improve, Zach Pfaffenberger is becoming one of the more improved bigs in his class. The 6’8 forward displays nice touch out to the three point arc, and moves extremely well without the ball. Pfaffenberger is becoming smarter as a defender, and is not afraid to step in and take a charge for his team. Pfaffenberger has heard from a number of low to mid level division one schools this spring, and should continue to see his recruitment expand.
QWANZI SAMUELS | TEAM BBC
Qwanzi Samuels showed signs of consistent production this weekend, and that’s a great sign as he’s starting to scratch the surface of his true potential. The 6’7 forward was very good in transition, and had some athletic finishes at the rim. Samuels also hit some shots from the perimeter, and his confidence is clearly growing.
