Signing Day for VCA
May 25, 2017 was a big day for Village Christian Academy, the team received their Championship rings from this past season as well as an alumni game with some of the former stars from the school. However the questions that were asked the most about VCA were where would the multiple unsigned seniors go to college? Well on Thursday night those questions were answered as 3 players signed with the colleges of their choice.
Where are they going?
Let’s begin with 6’7 Forward Nassyr Daniels, Daniels is one of those quiet players off the court but once he steps on the floor he gives it everything he has. He runs the floor well, blocks shots at a very high rate and doesn’t take any plays off, most importantly he is a very coachable young man that will only get better as time goes on. (Signed with Mars Hill)
Next is 6’4 Wing Jarvez Ellis, Jarvez is another quite, humble young man that loves to play the game, he has a chance to be a very good player over the next 4 years. Once he locks in fully and remains confident in his abilities he will become a dangerous player, was the camp leading scorer at East NC Fab 40 Camp with over 11 per. (Signed with Chowan University)
Last but not least is 6’4 Wing Omari Wilson, Omari is a player that came over to Village just prior to the school year. He is a versatile player that can guard smaller players and bigger players defensively as well as playing in different spots on the floor. He has continued to develop his game over this past year as well as his body and ended up receiving a nice amount of D2 offers but will suit up for Brunswick CC next year.
Who remains?
Village Christian PG Josh Haymer is still unsigned at this point and participated in the Alumni game, he matched up with UNCP Freshman PG David Strother and performed very well. At this point he is gaining interest from JUCO programs and D3 schools, for a program that need a high IQ PG he would truly be a nice fit even at the D2 level.
