Recruiting Report- Reiko Bagley (2018)
Reiko Bagley is new to the Ohio hoop scene this spring, as he moved back to Ohio recently with his cousin Lacey Watson from Illinois. These two have already made a name for themselves running with one of Central Ohio’s toughest clubs, EBC (Elite Basketball Club). He will be attending Whitehall High School and will help them make a big a run next year with the addition of himself and his cousin.
Bagley shoots it often and consistently well. While talking to him you can hear the confidence in his voice, “Shooting, is my strongest weapon, but I can get to the basket.” Bagley will definitely be one of the best shooters in Ohio next year during his senior campaign. He is right when he says he can get to the basket, he has all the makings to be a great scorer.
Bagley is 6’5 and extremely athletic which helps him shoot over other guards, slash, and crash the boards. In a game against All-Ohio Red’s 17U squad, which is arguably the best team on the EYBL circuit, Bagley put up 25 points and 9 rebounds in a 4 point loss. He sits down on the defensive end and is ready to play the entire time he is on the court.
With work I have confidence this kid can be one of the better scorers in the state. When asked what he does to get better he says he is focusing on getting stronger and more athletic. “I’m in the gym and weight room at least 3 to 4 times a week trying to get better and stronger.” He also wants to continue to develop his ability to score everywhere on the court. “I need to be able to start playing around the basket. I’m 6’5, I need to use my size and be more physical.”
He says he plans on making a name for himself this summer and hopes that more coaches start to show interest. So far he says he has talked to Samford University and Kent St. but by the end of this summer and going into next year I’m sure many more coaches will have reached out.
