Recruiting Report: Isaiah Woods (2018)
Lafayette’s 6-foot-5 forward, Isaiah Woods, has started to see his recruitment spike of late, and though no offers have come in yet, there has been a slew of Division I interest.
Also, there’s been JuCo interest coming in for the talented wing. He’s got one Texas JuCo picked out already if that’s the route he has to take.
“I’ve seen some interest from LSU, and I’ve been getting letters from Texas A&M, University of North Texas and Grambling State University,” said Woods.
“If I have to go to JuCo because of my ACT scores or whatever, then I would go to San Jacinto in Houston, Texas. They came and watched us practice, and one of my former teammates played for San Jacinto.”
With great size and ability to score at all three levels, it’s no wonder why Woods has become such an intriguing prospect.
“My strength is shooting the 3, at 6’5, also going to the goal, handling the rock and playing defense, and just going,” said Woods.
“Most of my points come from inside, and I’m working on finishing with my left (hand) this offseason.”
He pulled his groin late in his junior season, but besides that minor hiccup, Woods says his season with the Lions went smooth.
“My junior season went good, I averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds. The only thing that held me back was when I got hurt,” said Woods.
“I’m a team captain on the floor and with lifting weights, and the goal is to win a state championship next year.”
This summer Woods says he’ll play some with Team Milsap, but his main squad is South Louisiana Elite.
“This summer with Louisiana Elite, I’ll lead the team in scoring and rebounding and all that,” he said.
