Recruiting Report: Heru Bligen (2019)
You won’t find many point guards in high school who can pull down ten rebounds in a single game. Heru Bligen did it in seven respective games during his sophomore season at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. Not only did talented lead guard average nearly seven rebounds per contest, but he also led his team in assists. Bligen is known for his strong work ethic, and his versatility on both ends of the floor.
“I am a combo guard that can run the point guard and shooting guard. I have a great mid range, and I can get to the basket any time I want using my one on one moves,” Bligen explained. “I am a guard that can get it done both on defense and offense. I love to get my teammates involved, and know where they like it to make them successful.”
Bligen possesses the intangibles coaches look for in a winning point guard, and the energy he brings is contagious among his teammates. St. Andrew’s went 14-7 with Bligen in the lineup, and 2-3 in the games he missed due to injury.
“The most improved parts of my game over the last 12 months have been my 3 point shot, being a floor general, ball-handling, my mid-range, and my one-on-one moves,” Bligen stated. “I need to continue to work on my 3 point shot, and my one-on-one moves in the half court set.”
Bligen is a hard-worker in the classroom as well, and his 3.2 GPA is evidence of that. Navy and UMBC are the two schools who’ve offered scholarships to Bligen so far. Mount St. Mary’s, Richmond, and American are reportedly expressing interest. What can one of those programs expect from Bligen at the next level?
“I think that I can bring energy, confidence, hard work, a great point guard who gets everyone involved, and plays both ends of the floor. Just someone who loves to win, and encourages his teammates everyday both on and off the court. Someone who wins championships.”
