Recruiting Report: Cameron Burrell (2018)
Morgan Park 2018 wing Cameron Burrell is like his older brother in a lot of respects. More of a wing than Melo, but he has length and size at 6’7”. Run and jump athlete that gets up and down the floor with ease. Can hit a jumper every now and then from mid-range. Potential defensively. Not a big scorer. Small college player at this stage.
Burrell chatted with us about his junior campaign for the Mustangs which ended in a 3A state title in Peoria.
“The season went well. We won a state championship. We could have won a city championship, but we lost to Simeon. Overall it went pretty well.”
He told us what he brought to the team this past season.
“I came off the bench and provided quality minutes off the bench.”
What are the strengths in his game at this stage?
“I am a very good offensive rebounder. I can get to the bucket and get rebounds and put backs. I can hit a mid-range jumper.”
He trying to play his role with the Mac Irvin Fire on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring and summer.
“Mainly getting to the glass and hitting open mid-range jumpers.”
Burrell tells us that one program has started to show some interest in his services.
“South Dakota is really the only school I have heard from. They watched me in EYBL as they came to a couple games.”
