Recruiting Report: Anthony Barnard (2018)
One of the main offensive weapons for Kokomo is really bringing it this AAU season. Anthony Barnard, a 6’5 small forward, is running with UA Grind and after averaging 13.4 points a game as well as six rebounds this past high school season he is really trying to turn heads of college coaches.
Barnard does have some D1 and D2 interest from schools such as Army, IUPUI, Maryville, and UIndy and he is hoping to turn that interest into offers going into his senior year. He has taken visits to Grace and Maryville thus far, which came last year.
Barnard will have some options as to where he wants to go whether it be a D1, D2, or NAIA school and he knows what he is looking for in a future school albeit most of all he is looking for the best fit for him.
“Of course I want a school with a strong program but I’m also looking where I would best fit within that program. As of location, close to home would be great but I’m willing to go anywhere that fits me best and has strong academics.”
Speaking of his high school season, Barnard had some big games where he really shot the ball well and helped his team succeed. Barnard thought it was a good year for him to get more known throughout the state which will create more opportunities for himself throughout the year. Barnard said he also improved on, “Taking more leadership of the team and my on ball decisions and skills.”
Barnard says that his ability to play team ball and provide when his team is in need are his greatest attributes but he still has things to work on. If these key things that he is working on improves, he could be a very key player in the North Central Conference.
“(I’m trying) To become more consistent with my shot and ball handling and to work on foot speed.”
