Prospect Spotlight: Nate Talbot (2019)
Michigan’s 37th-ranked 2019, 6-foot-9 power forward Nate Talbot is working to diversify his skill-set, and becoming on of the class’s most intriguing young prospects.
With a rebound-first mind-set already intact and a will to get better, Talbot could be on the radar of scholarship-level programs soon.
“I rebound a lot, and I work hard, and it’s just what I go out there to do every game. I offensive rebound and create for other people, and I’m a leader out there on the floor,” said Talbot.
“My athleticism, and my speed and agility is what I’m working on now. And then my jump-shot and my ball-handling also.”
Talbot’s sophomore season with Lake Orion wrapped up a few months ago, he explained what his job was with that team.
“I was more of a role player, we had some veteran bigger guys that I would come off the bench for,” he said. “I would just come in and defend and get some rebounds.”
This spring he’s been playing with one of Michigan’s best squads, Greenwood Elite 16U
“For spring, I play off the bench because our starting center is really good,” he said. “I’ll score on occasion, but I like to find people for looks too, especially on backdoor cuts.”
Just a sophomore, Talbot has not seen a bunch of recruitment come his way. But it is something he’s eager for, and he has his goal set.
“I’ve talked to some D2 and D3 schools, but no offers yet. Kalamazoo College has talked to me and Northwood. And then Saginaw Valley State has talked to me a little bit,” said Talbot.
“My goal is to play D1, and that’s what I’m working for.”
