Prospect Spotlight: Joshua Wallace – (2019)
PF – Joshua Wallace 6’6’’ (2019) CBC High School, St. Louis (MO)
Josh Wallace is a 6’6’’ Power Forward out of CBC high school in St. Louis, Missouri. Wallace has been having a nice spring with the Brad Beal Elite 16U (formerly known as the St. Louis Eagles) and is looking to continue to impress this summer. Wallace is a power forward with an extremely high motor who brings energy and toughness on both ends of the court. Josh uses his size well to get good position in the post where he has solid footwork and is very efficient scoring from the block. He has a soft touch around the basket and good hands that make him a force down low he also is a plus rebounder on both the offensive and defensive ends. Has a really good second jump to keep balls alive and help his team get second chance points. On defense, he can guard the multiple positions and is a good shot blocker. One thing Wallace needs to work on is staying out of foul trouble, sometimes he plays with so much energy he can get overly aggressive. Has the potential to be a D1 player and would project as a low-major to mid major player right now factors such as if he grows or develops his skill set from the perimeter will play a role in where he lands at the next level.
I caught up with Wallace to talk High school season, AAU and his game!
How did your sophomore season at CBC go for you?
“At first, I wasn’t a starter because I was playing football at the start of the season, but by mid-season I had got my starting spot back and it was rough at first trying to find my rhythm, towards the end of the season I really found by groove.”
Really have been active this spring in the post, how would you describe your game?
“Mostly I focus on defense, I pride myself in being a defensive stopper and just being active in the post and getting dunks.”
What are some areas of your game you’d like to improve this AAU season?
“I am trying to improve my jump shot and inside game and also be more dominant on the boards.”
