Prospect Spotlight: George Kotsiura (2019)
George Kotsiura and Florida Prep had a very memorable year.
The Falcons went 25-6 and nearly won the Class 2A championship before Miami Christian upset them at the buzzer with a Neftali Alvarez 3-pointer.
The 6’1″, 150-pound Kotsiura played a key rotational role for Florida Prep this past season.
“This season was good,” Kotsiura told Prep Hoops Florida. “I played a lot of serious games and I got more chemistry and confidence with the team. I learned that you have to be stronger and I’m looking to add more confidence this season.”
Kotsiura says his shooting ability grew the most this season as the team’s shooting guard.
He’ll be playing with the U16 Ukraine national team this summer.
Starting his basketball life at age 6, Kotsiura pointed to his shooting ability in terms of 3’s, mid-range and floaters as his biggest strengths. He’s aiming to improve his defense be quicker overall.
He implemented himself this past season, but look for the rising junior to make a lot of noise this year for Florida Prep in an increased role. He is a pure shooter who is looking to expand his all-around game.
