Prospect Spotlight: Amaree Williams (2020)
A young 6-foot-2 wing from Federal Way, Amaree Williams is planting the seeds now to become one of the Eagles’ key players the next three seasons.
The freshman considers himself to be a slasher, and says that’s what he did best while playing up a level with the JV this past winter.
“I’m great at getting to the rack and getting to the hole. I have a nice mid-range jumper. I have a nice handle for my size. And I can jump high,” said Williams.
“This summer I’ll be working on my handle, my 3-point jumper and also my lateral movement and making it faster.”
Sometimes he would start, and sometimes he came off the bench this past winter with Federal Way’s JV. Williams is generally happy with how he played.
“I played JV and we went 18-2. I had a nice role, we had one to two freshman that played up with the JV, and some games I started,” he said.
“I think I did pretty well. I think I helped my team out a lot. I had a lot of stops on defense and was coach-able. It was just a pretty good freshman season for me.”
Now, he’s in the middle of his grassroots season with Emerald City Basketball 15U.
“For my AAU season, things have been going really well. I’ve been the leading scorer for the team so far. I’ve been rebounding the ball really well for my team, and have just been an overall leader,” said Williams.
“This offseason, I’ll be lifting and training the whole summer, and I just hope to learn a lot.”
