Prep Hoops’ Midwest Cup: Top 2019/2020 Forwards
2020 Jaleque Dunson, 6’4 SF (Martin Bros 15U)
All weekend this lengthy Sioux City East sophomore-to-be was making plays for eventual champion Martin Bros. He notched 13 points in the final, including two 3s and 11 points in the second half alone.
2020 Brady Hewitt, 6’3 SF (Beyond Ball 15U)
A rangy Des Moines Christian product, Hewitt showed an ability to rebound well from the wing spot, and to knock down triples. He could be a key player with the Lions’ varsity next season as a sophomore.
2019 Carter Cuvelier, 6’4 SF (Martin Bros 16U)
The more we see, the more we like of this Aplington-Parkersburg wing. He was good last weekend, and even better this weekend, doing the grit things to make his team go. He can score from mid-range or from banging down low, also hit 35 percent of his outside shots with the Falcons this past winter.
2019 Carson Crile, 6’5 PF (Iowa Pump N Run Black 16U)
More post than wing, Crile is lean but strong, and athletic with some nice bounce. He was there to snare offensive rebounds and keeps possessions alive with the best of them. He’s got some perimeter skills and can be considered a stretch-four. He’ll be dominant for Fairfield the next three seasons.
2019 Jackson Frericks, 6’7 SF (Martin Brothers 16U)
His height and length are what’s most intriguing. And while the Cedar Falls product might not be the guy to take over a game with 25 points, he’ll get buckets when needed, and is a matchup nightmare for opponents.
