Oklahoma State Tournament Saturday Night Stock Risers
The Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament continued on Saturday with some impressive players shining bright. Prep Hoops breaks down the players who took their game to another level on the afternoon to evening games on Saturday.
Bryce Thompson 2020 Point Guard PWP Black 16U
Thompson playing up two ages with the PWP Black 16U squad that is playing 17U this weekend balled out. He put up 22 efficient points in his first game on limited shots. He really has the chance to be the next special player out of Oklahoma. The sooner state doesn’t produce a ton of High Major Division I prospects, but by all accounts it looks like Thompson is on a collision course to a High Major Division I program with his skill set and potential. Thompson scored the ball really well from three-point land. He also used his length to give opponents trouble in the passing lanes. Standing at 6’4 Thompson has great potential at the two guard spot.
Andrew Crow 2019 Point Guard Tulsa Hawks
Crow really showed his value at the Point Guard spot. Andrew is much different from his brother, Trenton Crow (Signed 2017 to Cameron) as he plays at the Point and is more of a driver and creator. Crow did a great job of opening up the offensive for himself and his teammates off the dribble. Crow was very tough to defend with his handle of the basketball and quickness. He projects to the Division II level on the hardwood.
Jaycson Bereal 2018 Wing PWP 17U Black
Bereal was great on Saturday afternoon showing off his skill set on the Wing. He is a freak of an athlete and that is probably an understatement. Bereal came out with a killer attitude on Saturday. What serrated Bereal was his three-point shot, which was on the money all day long Saturday. When Bereal is hitting his three-point shot he is a scary player to see on the court. Bereal projects to the Division I Mid Major level. The athleticism of Bereal makes him an intriguing prospect to colleges.
Micheal Simpson 2019 Post 3D Athletes
Simpson is a find in Oklahoma at a legit 6’8 inside the paint. He battled all game long for 3D Athletes doing a good job on the boards. He is raw, but has some offensive post moves that help him make openings. Simpson has some potential if he can get in the gym and work. At 6’8 it is difficult to say what level he could get to without knowing his level of development, but he is a lock to be a small college prospect.
Latarryus Smith 2018 Point Guard Team Cougars
He was on fire from three-point range from the tip. He hit four three-pointers in a row to get going for Team Cougars early in the first half. From that point on there was no slowing him down. Three-point land was key for him, but he also used his quickness to get to the rim and score. He projects to the Division II level.
Joshua Harris 2018 Wing Team Oklahoma 17U
Harris caught fire for Team Oklahoma in the second half nailing several key shots down the stretch. Harris is super quick, which makes sense considering he is a track star at Broken Bow. Harris projects to the small college level. The shot of Harris coupled with his quickness that helps him defend well.
Tanner Wallace 2019 Forward Team Oklahoma 17U
Wallis was tough in the paint for Team Oklahoma. He is a stretch four with a surprising good three-point shot. Wallis did a good job of battling in the paint for rebounds. He is a little slow footed. Wallis projects to the small college level. He plays really hard and with a lot of heart.
Dawson Suthers 2018 Wing Oklahoma Servants 17U
Suthers was beyond clutch for the Oklahoma Servants in bracket play on Friday night. He scored the ball extremely well from three-point range as a catch and shoot player. However, as the game went and the Oklahoma Magic threw more defenders at him Suthers showed his ability to create openings with pump fakes and dribbling. Suthers projects to the small college level. He works extremely hard and brings it every single game on both ends. The college that lands Suthers will get a good one.
