New Orleans Basketball Club 17U, NOLA 23 16U win Exposure HoopFest titles
The annual Exposure HoopFest tournament in New Orleans is one of the state’s premier grassroots events and this year’s edition attracted the bulk of the city’s top players, as well as talent from Mississippi and Florida in the 17U and 16U divisions.
New Orleans Basketball Club and NOLA 23 both ran the gauntlet going a perfect 6-0 through the tournament with three wins on Sunday to win the title. NO BB Club beat Florida Dream handily in the championship game, 64-43, and also knocked the New Orleans Wolves (59-42) and New Orleans Elite (63-43) out of the tournament in the semis and quarterfinals, respectively.
Jehovah-Jireh 2017 G JaCoby Carter, Jehovah-Jireh 2018 G Donald Johnson, Crescent City 2018 G Terrence Smith and Walker 2018 F Jalen Perkins led the way for NO BB Club and McDonogh 2017 Cardiz Humble also had 23 in the championship game.
NOLA 23 topped Team Mitch 58-48 in their championship matchup and also defeated a tough MS Gladiators team twice in the semifinals (54-40) and in pool play on Saturday (66-48). Shaw 2018 G/W Jourdan Smith, Salmen 2019 PG Dandrick Green, Sophie B. Wright 2019 W/F Damiree Burns, Sophie B. Wright 2019 G Charlie Russell, Landry-Walker 2019 G Shadon Green and Helen Cox 2018 G Daelon Murdock all made significant contributions.
