Meet The Player: Vernon Mcwhite
The NC Wesleyan Battling Bishops got a nice commitment from South View HS standout Forward Vernon Mcwhite on Wednesday afternoon. At 6’7 with a nice amount of potential in his future Vernon will be a player that can have a special career for Wesleyan and be a huge part of their program before it’s all said and done. He has good rebounding ability, solid athleticism and he can step out and knock down jump shots at a decent percentage. So why did he choose NC Wesleyan? What can fans expect from him on the court? Well we got the chance to talk with him right after he made his commitment to get these answers and more.
First of all congrats on your commitment to Wesleyan .What were some of the factors that helped in you choosing them?
Vernon: Thank you very much. They were very dedicated to me, I developed a good relationship with them & the team.
How do you feel the HS season and AAU season went for you this year?
Vernon: Well I wish me & my teammates could’ve pulled out some more wins but I’m not going to complain. AAU this season was actually pretty good, a lot of the guys have signed to play college ball which is great, we all had a good relationship with each other & we’re all going to do big things.
Q: What are some things that the fans at Wesleyan can expect from you?
Vernon: they can expect dedication good sportsmanship & a very good game.
Q: Any pregame rituals?
Vernon: Listen to music & prayer before we run out.
Q: Favorite sneaker to play in?
Vernon: Adidas although that’s about to change.
Q: Favorite NBA team and favorite player?
Vernon: don’t have a favorite team, but my favorite player is Kevin Durant.
