Louisiana Class of 2018: New Faces pt. 2
Jalen Dalcourt 6’3 G/F Lafayette High
Dalcourt is a bit of a tweener at this level, not quite a guard but not quite a forward, but that doesn’t stop him from excelling at a high level. He is a knockdown shooter from outside of 15-18 feet, and he can get to the rim pretty well. He has a smooth game that allows him to weave through defenses. On the defensive side of the ball, he has uses his frame and length to be a disruptor.
Jude Joseph 5’10 G St. Thomas More
Joseph is a college prospect more on the gridiron than on the basketball court, and he brings that toughness to his game. He is ultra-quick, especially when he gets into the lane, and can finish with a variety of moves. This past season, he was relied on as more of a facilitator, but will need to score more next season. On defense, he is lockdown, and is trusted with defending the other teams best player every game.
John Buggs III 6’2 G Summerfield
Buggs is a very smooth off guard that has range well past the three point line. He has excellent vision, especially when driving to the goal. Athletic and defends at a high level. Buggs is a very complete player, and he has already won two state championships in his career.
Xavion Haulcy 6’1 G Gibsland-Coleman
Haulcy’s game honestly reminds me a lot of Buggs’ , as they can both do a lot of the same things. Haucly looks very smooth getting to the goal, and he cause use his length to finish over bigger defenders. His range doesn’t expand quite as far as Buggs’, but he is much more deadly in the mid-range. He will need to continue to work on his ball-handling skills to develop at the next level, but it is coming along.
