Kansas City Classic Recap: (Class of 2020 Guards)
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2020 guards from the Kansas City Classic in Lawrence, KS.
Reggie Morris 6’1″ MoKan Elite: A potent offensive player who was knocking down perimeter jumpers from everywhere throughout the weekend. His 3-point stroke was pure, whether he was getting it off the catch or running the court in transition and catching it on the move and letting it fly. He was cash money from long distance. Reggie is a rangy athlete who also has a little bounce.
Rashad McDaniels 5’11” MoKan Elite: A strong, physical point guard who has the ability to get buckets, but also has the ability to distribute the basketball. He did a nice job of facilitating throughout the weekend. His court vision and willingness to pass the ball made for a lot of easy opportunities for his teammates. Rashard is a creative scorer who can handle the ball and muscle his way to the basket to create offense.
Tayven Glasgow 6’0″ AK Jayhawks: A powerfully built point guard who uses his size and strength to overpower smaller guards, yet he has a strong skill set and a high basketball IQ to match. He showed the ability to get buckets, but he doesn’t try to force the issue to much he tries to get others involved and make his teammates better. He loves to let the game come to him. When he calls his own number, he can get to the basket and score or knock down jumpers on the move.
Steffan Black 5’11 AK Jayhawks: An impressive young point guard who plays the game with a lot of quickness and pace. Opposing guards had a difficult time staying in front of him as he was able get buckets off of dribble penetration throughout the weekend. He also displayed a nice pull up jumper in the lane.
Dontae Taylor 5’10” MBA Flight: A nifty young point guard with good quickness and the ability the get in the lane and create shots from some uncanny angles. He has the ability to stop on the dime and make shots while taking the contact, whether he is on balance or not. He can also knock down open 3-pointers. On defense, he was good at shooting the passing lanes and creating turnovers.
