Jayhawk Invitational (Sunday Standouts)
Here is a look at some of Sunday’s standouts from Missouri at the final day of the Jayhawk Invitational in Overland Park, KS
Ronnie Bell 6’1″ Team Rush: The talented combo guard had a tremendous game in his team’s narrow loss to Howard Pulley with a game-high 17 points. He scored on two dramatic end-to-end rushes to tie the game in the closing seconds. Bell was very aggressive in getting to the basket and did an excellent job of finishing with layups at the rim and short floaters. He also knocked down a number of 3-pointers. He has been playing excellent ball this spring, which has resulted in some Division I offers from Missouri State and SEMO. Expect more to come.
Tyreese Davis 6’6″ KC Run GMC: An athletic combo forward who plays the game with a high motor on both ends of the court, Davis can make game-changing plays in many different ways. He can handle the ball and knock down perimeter jumpers or score off the bounce. He was a strong rebounder who went out and ran the court and scored on several rim-runs in transition. Davis is skilled, athletic and aggressive enough to play anywhere on the front court.
Lamel Robinson 5’10” KC Run GMC 16U: The dynamic point guard put in good work in helping Run GMC to yet another tournament championship in the 16U division. He is a quick point guard who can facilitate, but he is also very good at getting buckets in the flow of the offense. Despite being small, he is a good finisher when he gets to the rim, plus he also has the ability to stop and pop from the mid-range and knock down the 3-pointer.
Mason Taylor 6’4″ KC Pacers: A very nice shooting guard prospect who combines a smooth skill set on the perimeter with a strength and toughness which belies his relatively thin frame. He displayed a smooth stroke from 3-point range, including a game in which he hit five treys from long distance in pool play. Taylor can also get buckets off the bounce and elevate in the mid range. He also displayed the ability to go in the post and score against smaller guards. He’s been an excellent addition to the Pacers’ squad.
Quinan Rieves 6’4″ NdaGym: An athletic and hard-working combo forward who led his team to the Silver Division championship. Rieves was very productive in the paint throughout the weekend with his length and crafty moves around the basket. His quickness and footwork created matchup problems for bigger and slower defenders in the lane, plus he had the ability to go outside and get buckets off the bounce.
Dylan Ridgnal 6’4″ KC Spurs Black 16U: An active combo forward who is a good overall player, but he is very, very good at two things. He is an excellent rebounder and he can really knock down a jumper from the elbow. You can count on those two things from him in just about every game. I like how he can rebound out of his area, which displays a real desire to get the basketball more than most.

Here are a few top level performers from outside Missouri who stood out on Sunday at the 16U and 17U levels:
Jarvis Thomas 6’7″ Howard Pulley 17U: An athletic and aggressive power forward who had some power finishes around the rim. Helped Howard Pulley to the 17U championship. He had some very impressive power dunks in traffic.
Jordan Phillips 6’6″ Dallas Showtyme Elite 17U: A strong, physical wing player who used his strength to get wherever he wanted to go on the court. He could get to the rim and bull-moose his way to get buckets or he could pull up and knock down mid-range jumpers.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl 6’9″ KC Run GMC 16U: Smooth post player who is one of the top players in the Class of 2019 nationally. He can score around the basket, rebound and block shots at a high rate.
Daniel Oturu 6’10” Howard Pulley 17U: The University of Minnesota commit was a force around the basket in helping his team roll to the tournament championship. He is an excellent rim-protector, although he caught a few bad breaks from the officials on clean blocks. Also had some very impressive post moves and finishes around the bucket.
Grayson Carter 6’8″ Dallas Showtyme Elite 17U: An athletic power forward with a big body and a nice skill set for a player his size. He was good around the basket, but he was an effective ball handler with a nice shooting touch out to 15 feet.
