The First Five: BBA Force
BBA Force has played in four events so far in four different locations. The Force has produced a 9-8 record playing a solid schedule to date. BBA is the subject of, The First Five.
Ace Zorr. The Harrisburg Tigers were 3-10 and the season changed. What was a big reason for the change? The play of 6-foot-5 forward Ace Zorr. Zorr is a quick off his feet athlete who learned how to use his physical ability to consistently produced. Blocked shots, lob finishes, boards snatched off the rim, Zorr did that consistently all season and is doing it for BBA Force. Zorr went from a solid high school player to being a player on the radar of programs. At 6-foot-6 Christian Beachler is the forward playing along with Zorr who put up an 11/5 this year.
Brady Van Holland. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is one of a couple shooters that BBA has on the roster. Holland has the size to be a shooting threat at the next level too as long as the numbers consistently are there. They were there this winter and they have been solid since. Brady has the type of form that was coached early in his life and comes off the hand in a pretty way. The Tiger run this year included some clutch finishes from Brady including game winning threes and clutch foul shots. Van Holland is also a good passer and a solid rebounder.
Carson Rentz. While we are on the subject of shooters Carson Rentz also fits that mold. Carson doesn’t have the size that Brady does but the touch is also very dangerous. Rentz grabbed the attention of the state with his game winning three against St. Thomas More and hasn’t stopped hitting baskets at the arc since. That continued this past weekend at the Battle at the Lakes. Another scorer/shooter the team has is Sioux Falls Christian guard Will Garnaas who is 6-foot-2. With Van Holland, Rentz, and Garnaas around the team they can be deadly.
Emmanuel Akot. America is aware of Emmanuel Akot, the 6-foot-8 versatile small forward from Utah who is headed to Arizona in the future. But South Dakota has it’s version of a 6-foot-8 Emmanuel Akot who goes by Manny Akot and he’s from Sioux Falls Washington. Akot played at the junior varsity level last season building on his raw potential. The potential that includes incredible length in a back to the basket game that is solid finishing over a shoulder turn. Akot has to get more comfortable with his low post repertoire as his reaction time is still getting there but many improvements have been made. Manny works hard and hustles up the floor to get to the spot to fight for position.
The Jankes. Jadon and Jaxon, the 6-foot-3 guards that compete with toughness on both ends of the floor and can now play three spots. Both are skilled and both love to compete. Jadon is an improved feet set shooter and does a great job using a dribble and making a play on balance as high school kids can’t knock him off balance. Jaxon has the one hand floater and does a nice job scoring off the glass. Both have great hands and know how to leverage guys both ways. Excellent basketball and football players, Jaxon was on Sportscenter last year for one of his incredible plays last year.
