Around the State : Sumter-Clarendon Underclassmen
Prep Hoops is taking a trip across this great state to tell you about several players to follow in the years to come. We take a look at the best underclassmen from Sumter and Clarendon Counties in this article.
Calvin “CJ” Felder – Sumter HS
Felder 6’7 is playing on the AAU circuit with Game Elite in the Adidas Gauntlet Series. Felder (2019) will look to add to improve on his stats from last year for the Fighting Gamecocks. Felder should form a solid 1-2 punch with Isaih Moore (2018) this coming season. Felder has already received interest from Auburn, Virginia Tech, UNLV and Charleston Southern this spring.
Juwan Perdue – Lakewood HS (pictured on front)
Perdue seems to keep getting better every time he touches the floor. Perdue (2019) a left-handed wing player has a very skill level and is a quick leaper off the floor. Perdue should look to contribute more to the Gators offense next season with the departure of several seniors. Perdue plays AAU with the South Carolina Ballers on the Big Shots Circuit. Perdue will team up with fellow seniors next season Grant Singleton and Ahkeem Lawson on the Gators roster.
Quentin Hodge – Lakewood HS
Hodge recently arrived at Lakewood HS from South Florence HS. Hodge (2020) averaged 9 ppg as a freshman for the Bruins this past season. Hodge 6’4 has good length and can really defend on the ball. Hodge plays football and was looking to be the starting quarterback at South Florence HS before his departure. Hodge plays AAU with Perdue on the South Carolina Ballers.
Nazir Andino – Laurence Manning Academy (Manning)
Andino (2019) is a very streaky shooter at times. Andino a undersized shooting guard is running AAU with the South Carolina Ballers as well this spring.
Jamal Walton – Crestwood (Dalzell)
Walton has big shoes to fill in Temetrius “Jai” Morant. Walton 6’0 will look to lead the Knights after they were hit hard by graduation. Morant (Murray State), James Jennings (Coker College) and Trevion Webber.
Corey Graham – Manning M.S. (Manning)
Graham (2021) played this past season at Manning M.S. Graham 6’2 is a very athletic combo guard.
Trevonte Brunson – Alice Drive M.S. (Sumter)
Brunson (2021) stands at 6’2 already. Brunson and Graham will be 2 names to follow in this part of the state in the years to come. Brunson indicated to Prep Hoops that he could be at Sumter HS this fall. Brunson plays AAU with Carolina Stampede 2021.
