All-Academic: 2018 Point Guards
When it comes to recruiting, finding ways to differentiate yourself is key. One of the best and most coveted ways from college coaches is having high academic prospects. This series of articles looks at some of the top academic student-athletes at each position on the floor. Here is our look at the top academic point guards.
Sam Norton – 5’11 | PG | Mooresville (IN) | IE Magic 2018
Phillip King – 6’0 | PG | Bloomington South (IN) | Indiana Elite 2018
Tyler Watson – 6’1 | PG | Tri-West (IN) | GP Premier 2018-Blake
Max Nolting – 5’11 | PG | Columbus East (IN)
Joe Kirkhoff – 5’11 | PG | Indianapolis Roncalli (IN) | All Out 2018
State of Academics: This group of point guards is among the better ones that we have had in the past few years in terms of academics. Very few JUCO levels lead guards and a ton that are above a 3.0 GPA. With that, the lower end GPA still produces some really good guards in that DII+ range so that will have to be something to watch. However, going above a 3.0 is where the majority of the class stands. Tons of prospects for the taking in this group and at all levels.
