2019: Fast Risers (Part 3)
The summer is crucial for all of the talent across the United States. In Florida, there are a ton of players looking to not only improve their overall games but also draw more attention from the top college programs.
Here is a look at the second set of fast risers in the class of 2019.
In case you missed it: Part 1, Part 2
R.J. Barrett (Montverde)
Montverde has been a basketball powerhouse over the last decade and R.J. Barrett is the next big thing coming out of the school. He emerged as a freshman and turned heads at the City of Palms Classic, forcing fans to constantly chant “he’s only a freshman.” Barrett took his game even further as a sophomore and he makes it look easy, especially as an attacker. He’s running with UPlay Canada on the nike circuit this summer. The 6’5″ forward is No. 1 in our 2019 class rankings.
Offers: Louisville, Miami, SMU, Missouri, USC, Baylor, Oklahoma, UCLA, Kansas, Utah, Arizona, Duke, Connecticut, St. John’s
Vernon Carey Jr. (University)
Duke and Kentucky haven’t offered yet, but the two top notch college programs are showing plenty of interest in Vernon Carey Jr. Soon everyone will be. At 6’9″, Carey looks like an oversized defensive end or tackle much like his father, a former NFL star for many years. Carey Jr. is a hard worker and his inside game is improving two-fold with Nike Team Florida this summer. He ranks No. 2 in our 2019 class rankings.
Offers: UCLA, Oklahoma State, FSU, Connecticut, UCF, USC, Tennessee, Louisville, UF, Miami, Georgia State, Baylor
Tre Mann (Villages Charter)
It was about time that Tre Mann’s value blew up. The 6’3″ guard is a high-end 3-point shooter. Mann guided the Villages to a Class 5A state semifinal appearance before falling to Tampa Catholic and Kevin Knox behind the UK commits 40 point, 20 rebound performance. Regardless, Mann is doing well on the court with his speed and shooting ability this summer with E1T1. He ranks No. 11 in our 2019 class rankings.
Offers: UF, FSU, Memphis, Texas A&M, UNF.
Jaduhkiss Soto (Kissimmee)
A lengthy 6’6″ wing, Jaduhkiss Soto is starting to draw the attention of a steady group of colleges. Playing for 1Family has boosted his stock and confidence. He can hit from outside and has the ability to stretch the floor. Soto is in for a big junior season at Kissimmee. He earned his latest offer from FGCU on May 1. He ranks No. 12 overall in our 2019 class rankings.
Offers: FGCU, FIU, Stetson, Southeastern Louisiana
Isiah Kirby (Sagemont)
Down south, 6’3″ Sagemont guard Isiah Kirby is turning heads with his handles and speed. He’s a long guard who can set up a lot for his team and himself. Kirby is running with E1T1 this summer and that is going to help his game grow plenty. He’s surrounded by good talent and I think he’s dripping in breakout potential. Kirby ranks No. 15 overall in our 2019 class rankings.
