VHSL Freshman All State Teams
At Vantage, we try to do some things differently so our readers can see things from different perspectives. With the high school season over and AAU right around the corner, we thought it would be a good time to release our All State teams. While there are VHSL and VISAA All State teams already released, we decided to do things differently by splitting up our All State teams by class instead of classification.
Below is our choices at Vantage Hoops for the VHSL Freshman All State team. It includes names from every classification 1-6A, and were chosen through research and debate by the Vantage team. We have divided them up into First through Third Team, with 7 players in each, and an honorable mention list for the kids who were considered and deserve recognition for their terrific season as well.
Enjoy, and let the debate begin!
First Team
MVP: Cam Thomas | Oscar Smith
While Isaiah Todd has the most potential on this list, no one made a bigger impact as a freshman in the state than Thomas. The 6’1″ combo guard led all freshmen in scoring and was among the top five in scoring for all of Hampton Roads throughout the season. Despite his age, he was the go-to guy for them down the stretch, and his killer mentality is well beyond his age.

Kenard Richardson | Varina
Andre Bottoms | Oscar Smith
Elijah Seward | Parkview/John Marshall
