Tre Jones: Ten Quotes
When Tre Jones wasn’t leading Howard Pulley wins in the EYBL last weekend in Virginia he was doing interviews. Here ten of his quotes from last weekend.
Tre Jones talking about his unofficial visit to Minnesota last week:
“It was really good. They’re putting in a brand new practice facility, which is going to help them a lot. They’re making major strides over there and that’s great to see.”
Tre Jones on the appeal of staying home:
“A little bit for sure. I’m a family guy. My whole family’s at home. Tyus is playing right there, five minutes away from the University of Minnesota. So that would be amazing.”
Tre Jones on when he is making his decision:
“I think I’ll be making my decision at the end of the summer or the beginning of the fall at the latest. Just seeing the stress that Tyus went through was enough for me to say I want to get it over with as soon as possible. Most people don’t see that side of it because the reality is that it’s a blessing to even be in this situation, but it can be a lot.”
Tre Jones on following in his brother’s foot steps and going to Duke:
“It’s a little hard not to follow that, I’ll be honest. But, at the same time, it’s not that simple. I’ve got great options and I have to do what’s best for me. Whether that’s going to Duke or going to one of the other great schools on my list I just don’t know yet.”
Tre Jones on UCLA visit:
“It’s amazing. UCLA, it’s beautiful out there. They have a great team and I watched a great game, them against Arizona. It was a great atmosphere, a wonderful visit. Coach Alford feels that I can be a leader for them.”
Tre Jones on Apple Valley winning state title:
“It was amazing. Across the entire state of Minnesota people doubted us and didn’t think we would be able to make a run down the stretch. Our coaches, team, and all of our families believed we had the talent to do that and that is exactly what we did.”
Tre Jones on his improvements over a year:
“I’m more comfortable now. I feel like I’m a better leader now and I feel I’m better on the defensive end. My biggest strength is being a leader for my team.”
Tre Jones on being compared to his brother Tyus:
“That’s always one of the first questions reporters ask. I get it, we’re both the same size, we play the same position and we look alike. It’s cool though, my brother is a great player so I’m honored to be compared to him.”
Tre Jones on his family being his main motivation:
“My family and just knowing all the sacrifices they’ve given for me to be successful and the fact that they’ve had success in sports. I come from an athletic family so we’re always pushing to be the best and of course my brother is in the NBA. That inspires me to work hard and give it everything I have.”
Tre on being a great rebounder:
“I definitely take pride in getting boards. It’s all off of instincts. I like to play fast and I feel like if I get the rebound we can start the break right away. From where I am on the perimeter I can see where the ball is coming off. I usually attack the backside on the rebounds because the ball typically comes off there. My dad taught me that ever since I was younger. He said around 70 percent of rebounds are right there in that area.”
